The Hobbit is a dense and deliberate journey, but very rewarding. Peter Jackson created an amazingly beautiful 3D world I felt great about spending several hours in.
It is not the Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit is quirkier and lighter. It is a bit indulgent, but you don’t have to be a Tolkien fan to be quickly drawn in.
The acting is exactly what it should be. Martin Freeman was a great choice for Bilbo, and Ian McKellen is even more enjoyable as Gandalf this time around.
This film is so pretty I’d pay another $15 just to bathe my eyes in its beauty once more…
